Care & Maintenance
Outdoor Furniture
General Maintenance
- Whatever the material, use a protective cover when furniture is not in use. It shields against UV, rain, snow and debris and is the single biggest factor in how long a set lasts. Our patio furniture covers are made in Canada from marine-grade fabric and sized for our sets.
- Brush off leaves and debris regularly. Trapped organic matter holds moisture and stains.
- Never use a pressure washer, bleach on frames, or abrasive cleaners or pads.
All-Weather Wicker (Lovett & Lovett Vive)
Our wicker is UV-stabilized resin hand-woven over a powder-coated aluminum frame and built to stay outside year-round.
- Brush or vacuum debris from the weave.
- Hose down with clean water.
- Wash with mild dish soap and warm water using a soft brush or cloth.
- Rinse thoroughly and let air dry.
Storage: Can stay outside under a fitted cover. For longest life, store cushions indoors over winter. See How Long Does All-Weather Wicker Last?
Recycled Plastic (Adorna & Muskoka Chairs)
Solid recycled plastic (HDPE) does not rot, peel, crack or need painting, and can stay outside all winter.
- Rinse with a hose.
- Wash with mild soap and water. A soft brush handles textured surfaces.
- For stubborn marks, use a paste of baking soda and water, then rinse well.
Storage: No cover required. Keep clear of standing water and heavy snow load where possible.
Aluminum Frames
Powder-coated aluminum resists rust and corrosion.
- Wipe with a soft cloth to remove dust.
- Hose down and wash with mild soap and water.
- Dry with a cloth to prevent water spotting.
Do not use abrasive pads or granular cleaners; they scratch the powder coat. Check that frame drain holes are clear before winter.
Storage: Cover, or store dry.
Nardi Resin (Polypropylene)
Most Nardi pieces are made from fiberglass-reinforced polypropylene: lightweight, UV-treated, coloured through, non-porous and easy to sanitize. It is 100% recyclable.
- Wash with water to remove surface dirt and dust.
- Spray with a mild, non-aggressive all-purpose cleaner and leave it a few minutes.
- Wipe with a damp cloth or sponge. Use a toothbrush for tight spots.
- Rinse with plenty of water and dry with a cloth.
Stubborn marks come off with a melamine sponge (Magic Sponge). Do not use aggressive detergents or abrasives; they scratch the surface. Dark colours (anthracite, tobacco) keep their colour longest in shaded spots. Recycled-content resin can show slight colour variation; this is normal.
Nardi Aluminum
Nardi table frames are aluminum with an epoxy primer and polyester outdoor paint.
- Dust with a cloth.
- Spray with a mild all-purpose cleaner or neutral soap in water and leave a few minutes.
- Rinse and dry with a sponge or cloth.
Never use granular detergents or solvents; they damage the paint. Store protected over winter or during long periods of non-use.
Nardi Laminate Tabletops (HPL)
Compact, non-porous and easy to sanitize. Clean often.
- Wipe with a damp cloth and warm water or a mild, non-abrasive detergent.
- For dried stains, use a melamine sponge or soft cloth.
- Rinse with clean lukewarm water and dry with a clean cloth.
Do not leave oily or acidic substances on the top; they can leave permanent marks. No abrasive sponges, hard brushes, furniture polish or wax cleaners. Most everyday stains (juice, coffee, wine, ink) lift with water and a sponge; fats and sauces with cold soapy water.
Nardi Glass Tabletops
Tempered extra-clear glass, 6 mm. Clean every 7 to 10 days: dust with a cloth, spray glass cleaner onto a cloth, and clean in circular motions. Soften dried spots with a little water. No abrasive sponges; keep rings, pens and other sharp objects off the surface.
Nardi Cushions & Fabrics
Nardi cushion covers are acrylic or Sunbrella acrylic and are machine washable at 30°C on a gentle cycle. Do not tumble dry, dry clean or wring. Air dry flat or hanging. Sling (sunlounger) fabric is PVC-coated polyester: wash with water, a mild cleaner and a damp cloth, then rinse and dry. Nardi protective covers wash at up to 95°C with neutral detergent.
Fire Pits & Fire Tables
Steel Fire Pits (Frontier Fire Pits)
Carbon steel is meant to patina. Surface rust is normal and does not affect performance.
- Empty ashes once cool. Never leave ash to sit wet.
- Brush loose rust with a wire brush if you prefer a cleaner look, then refinish with our high-heat steel fire pit spray, made for Frontier products and available in store. A light coat once a season keeps the finish even.
- Cover when not in use.
Storage: Cover, or store dry.
Concrete Fire Tables (Hearthstone)
- Spills: blot immediately, do not wipe. Wash with mild soap and water and a soft white cloth. No abrasive or acidic cleaners.
- Burner: if flames are uneven or ignition is slow, remove the media and brush dust and cobwebs from the burner ports.
- Keep the burner cover on when not in use to keep out water and insects.
- Reapply a concrete sealer every one to two seasons.
Storage: Cover. Keep snow and ice from building up on the top; the weight and freeze-thaw can crack it.
Sunbrella Cushions & Weather Covers
Sunbrella Cushions & Pillows
All WickerPark cushions and pillows are made in Canada with Sunbrella solution-dyed acrylic. It resists fading, mildew and water, and cleans with soap and water. Every cushion cover is removable: we use marine-grade zippers that resist mildew and weather, so the cover comes off for machine washing. Flip and rotate cushions weekly so wear is even.
For stain-by-stain instructions (wine, sunscreen, bird droppings, tree sap, mildew and more), see the full guide: How to Clean Sunbrella Fabric.
Routine cleaning
- Brush off loose dirt.
- Mix ¼ cup mild soap per 4 L (1 gallon) of lukewarm water.
- Sponge or soft-brush the fabric.
- Rinse until no soap remains. Air dry.
Removable covers: unzip, machine wash cold with mild detergent, air dry only, and put the cover back on while slightly damp for the best fit.
Mildew: 1 cup bleach and ¼ cup mild soap per 4 L of water. Spray, let stand 15 minutes, scrub lightly, rinse thoroughly, air dry. Sunbrella tolerates bleach; the stitching and foam do not, so rinse well.
Storage: Store dry, indoors or in a sealed deck box, over winter. Never store damp.
Weather Covers
Hose down and air dry. Do not machine wash. Store dry and folded when not in use.
